When to go:
The best time to go to Thailand is from November all the way to April. May might be OK, but if you go from June to October expect it to be rainy.
Where to go to? – Krabi vs Phuket
This is the mos sought after answer when you talk about Thailand. Two big destinations come to mind: Krabi and Phuket.
Honestly, both of these places are excellent options for vacationing with your family. It really comes down what do you want – to help you choose I made will pick a destination based on different criteria?
- Island hopping – Phuket
- Relaxing – Krabi
- Beaches – Phuket
- With kids – Krabi
- Nightlife – Phuket
- Budget – Krabi
In the end, I believe Krabi is more family friendly while still being wild and not losing an inch of that Thai essence. Also a great place to travel with other families and friends. On the other hand, Phuket is better if you want to meet new people, hit the nightlife and visit many different amazing islands in little boats without having to worry if they have a life jacket for your toddler/infant.
Where to stay?
Ao Nang beach is the place to be. It`s the nicest sandy beach around and you can find anything (sun lotion, handcrafts, ice cream, cold beer, fresh juice, coconut water and food!) while relaxing, watching your kids play in the water, throwing a football around or building sand castles.
While looking for accommodation options take a look at this place – Aonang Villa Resort. Great location right at the beach, very good service, amazing structure and not too expensive!
Daytrip!
Do yoursef a huge favor and save a day to take a trip to Railay Beach. It will be the highlight of your trip, I consider Railay to be the best destination in Thailand. Do bring a life jacket for your kids, the boats that will take you there and back might not have one depending on the size.
You have more than a week?
If you have ore than a week I strongly suggest you take a look into visiting Phuket, Phi Phi Island and/or Koh Lipe. You won`t regret!
